Convert Your AGA to Electric with the Electrickit from Oilwarm
Love your AGA, but not necessarily the way it runs?
If you love the look, feel and cooking style of your traditional AGA but would like more control over when and how you use it, converting it to an ElectricKit electric system could give your cooker a whole new lease of life.
MESA Home Services can convert suitable traditional AGA cookers from oil, gas or older electric systems to ElectricKit, allowing you to retain the cast-iron cooker you already know and love while replacing the original heat source with a modern, controllable electric system.
Rather than having your AGA running continuously in the traditional way, an ElectricKit conversion gives you much greater control over individual areas of the cooker.
You keep the AGA.
You change the way you use it.
ElectricKit is an independent conversion system and is not supplied, endorsed by or affiliated with AGA Rangemaster Ltd.
Why Convert an AGA to Electric?
Traditional oil and gas AGAs were designed around a very different way of heating and using our homes.
For many owners, having a large cooker producing heat 24 hours a day is exactly what they love during winter — but perhaps considerably less appealing during a July heatwave!
ElectricKit gives you the flexibility to choose when you want that heat.
The ovens and hotplates use dedicated electric heating elements, allowing different areas of the cooker to be controlled independently rather than relying on one continuously operating burner to heat the whole appliance.
That means you can use the parts of your AGA you actually need.
Fancy using a hotplate without heating the ovens all day? You can.
Want the oven ready for dinner but don't need the cooker running continuously from breakfast? That's possible too.
It brings much more flexibility to a cooker originally designed around an always-on lifestyle.
Keep the Cast-Iron Cooking Experience
Converting your AGA doesn't mean replacing it with a conventional electric range cooker.
One of the biggest attractions of the ElectricKit system is that it works with the existing cast-iron structure of a suitable traditional AGA.
The original ovens retain the radiant-heat style of cooking that AGA owners know so well, while electric elements provide the heat and modern controls allow you to decide where and when that heat is required.
So you can modernise the way the cooker operates without losing the character that made you buy — or keep — an AGA in the first place.
What About the Electrical Supply?
An ElectricKit conversion needs a suitable electrical supply, and the requirements vary depending on the cooker and conversion being installed.
This is something that needs to be considered before the work takes place rather than on the morning of the conversion.
We'll advise you what electrical provision is required so that any necessary electrical work can be arranged before installation.
-
The ElectricKit Classic provides independent control over the cooker using straightforward physical and digital controls.
The hotplates can be individually controlled, allowing you to select the heat level required rather than being limited to a permanently heated boiling and simmering plate.
The ovens can also be temperature controlled, giving considerably more flexibility than a traditional oil or gas appliance.
Depending on the cooker and installation, optional upgrades can also include an induction hob and Wi-Fi timer control.
It's a good option for someone who wants the advantages of an electric conversion without turning their AGA into another complicated piece of smart technology.
-
For owners who want even greater control, there's the ElectricKit Advanced.
The Advanced system uses touchscreen controls and allows different cooking zones to be controlled electronically.
It can also work with the Smart Life app, allowing compatible oven zones to be switched on or off and temperatures adjusted remotely from a phone or tablet.
That can be particularly useful if you don't want your AGA sitting at cooking temperature all day.
You could, for example, arrange for the oven to be ready when you need it rather than paying to keep it at full temperature while you're out.
It's still your traditional cast-iron AGA — it just becomes considerably smarter.
