AGA Servicing
Regular maintenance is particularly important for traditional gas and oil-fired AGA cookers.
An AGA often runs for long periods and, unlike an appliance that is switched on only when needed, small changes in its operation can gradually affect temperature, reliability and performance.
Routine servicing allows the appliance to be checked, cleaned and adjusted as appropriate, as well as giving us an opportunity to identify worn or deteriorating components before they develop into a breakdown.
How often should an AGA be serviced?
As a general guide:
Gas AGA cookers — every 12 months
Annual servicing helps ensure the burner, controls, flue arrangement and appliance continue to operate correctly and safely.
Oil AGA cookers — every 6 months
Traditional oil-fired AGAs generally require more frequent servicing because of the way the burner and oil system operate. Keeping on top of regular maintenance can make a noticeable difference to reliability and performance.
Electric AGA cookers
Electric models do not have the same routine combustion servicing requirements as gas and oil appliances. However, if your electric AGA develops a fault, isn't reaching temperature or isn't operating correctly, we can investigate the problem.
Not sure what type of AGA you have? Don't worry — send us a photograph or give us a call and we'll help you work it out.
Before Your AGA Service or Repair
Traditional AGA cookers retain an enormous amount of heat.
For us to work safely on a gas or oil-fired cooker, it will normally need sufficient time to cool before the engineer arrives.
Please switch your AGA off the night before your booked service or repair appointment unless we have advised you otherwise.
If the cooker hasn't had enough time to cool, it may not be possible to safely carry out the work during the appointment.
We'll confirm any preparation needed when your visit is booked.

Gas-fired AGAs have been produced in a number of configurations over the years, including different oven arrangements and different flue systems.
These can include conventional flue, balanced flue and power flue appliances, so understanding the particular installation is important when diagnosing a fault or assessing how the appliance is operating.
We can assist with servicing, maintenance and fault finding on gas AGA cookers.
-
Traditional oil-fired AGAs are fantastic appliances, but they do need looking after.
Unlike an oil boiler, many traditional oil AGA installations use a gravity-fed oil supply, and their burners require regular maintenance to continue operating correctly.
This is one of the reasons routine servicing is normally recommended more frequently for an oil AGA than for a gas model.

Electric AGAs have different maintenance requirements from traditional gas and oil-fired appliances, but that doesn't mean they never go wrong.
Electric AGA cookers have been produced in several forms, including traditional continuously heated appliances and newer controllable or on/off systems.
